Actor John Goodman, a longtime New Orleans resident, listed his Garden District mansion for sale for nearly $5.5 million weeks after he lost his Los Angeles home to the ongoing wildfires.
Goodman’s well-known abode at Coliseum Street in the Garden District was listed this week for $5.45 million, according to a post on real estate website Zillow.
Goodman, 72, is known for playing Dan Connor opposite his onscreen wife Roseanne Barr in the sitcom “Roseanne” and his prolific film career. A St. Louis native, Goodman has lived in New Orleans since the mid-1990s.
In a 2014 interview with Garden & Gun, Goodman said he first fell in love with New Orleans in 1972 after a trip with some college friends. He also met his wife, Anna Beth, in the Crescent City.
Goodman moved to the New Orleans area to get away from Los Angeles, initially living in a “haunted house” in Old Metairie before relocating to the Garden District in 2005.
Goodman bought the four bedroom, 4-and-half bath property from Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor for $1.8 million, according to Yahoo News.
According to the Zillow listing, the mansion is 4,950 square feet on a .29-acre lot.
“Located in the heart of the New Orleans Garden District, 2425 Coliseum Street is an exquisite Italianate-Greek Revival home that perfectly balances historic charm with modern luxury,” the listing says. “Built in the 1850s, this meticulously maintained property features deep double galleries overlooking lush gardens and a gated entry framed by ancient Crepe Myrtles.”
The listing also advertised “timeless elegance” with the mansion’s bay-window banquette, grand staircase, and a dining room with hand-painted hardwood floors.
The home also features a chef’s kitchen.
Goodman lost his California home in the Pacific Palisades wildfires in January.
