COLUMBUS, Ohio — The annual Home and Garden Show is a time to think of new creative ideas for home improvement needs and with over 300 vendors in attendance, there’s likely something for everyone.
Preparing for the big week ahead, the Ohio Expo Center’s Celeste building is transforming to a homeowner’s dream backyard. Nick Besser is a landscaping architect who has been a part of the Home and Garden Show for over 20 years.
“It’s a great opportunity to show our abilities and just get out, meet and greet people,” said landscaping architect for Reipenhoff Landscaping, Nick Besser.
As this year’s chairman of the show, Reipenhoff Landscaping looks forward to this event every year, not just to help the business but to also teach the community.
“it’s amazing the number of people that come down here with a specific question. They have something wrong with the plant or they have a problem area in their landscape. And between us down here at the show, somebody is going to have the right answer for you,” said Besser.
Hundreds of real plants, trees, flowers and home improvement exhibitors cover over a quarter million square feet. Every year the Home and Garden Show has a theme and this year’s theme is “backyard friends.”
Besser chose dogs for Reipenhoff Landscaping as their backyard friend and they are partnering with the Franklin County Animal Shelter to give attendees the opportunity to adopt a dog at the show.
“When we sat down in our office and talked about what is a backyard friend, I immediately went to my dog,” said Besser.
Along with the opportunity to adopt a dog, attendees can expect to interact with hundreds of vendors who specialize in all types of home improvement. According to event coordinator Stephen Buzza, people treat the Home and Garden Show as an opportunity to think of different ideas for their homes.
“Guests are more into gardening, landscaping, and I think they use the home side of the show is more of ideas,” said Central Ohio Home and Garden Show event coordinator, Stephen Buzza.
The Home and Garden Show is February 15th to the 23rd but they are closed on Tuesday. You can purchase tickets online at dispatchhomeandgarden.com or purchase tickets at the door.
