How to Maintain and Clean Your Driveway Pavers

How to Maintain and Clean Your Driveway Pavers

Driveway pavers add beauty and style to your home’s curb appeal. They’re strong, long-lasting, and can handle daily use. But like anything outside, pavers need regular care to stay clean and in good shape. Here’s how to maintain and clean your driveway pavers the right way.

1. Sweep Regularly

Leaves, dirt, and debris can build up on your pavers. Use a broom or leaf blower to sweep the surface at least once a week. This simple step keeps the area clean and helps prevent stains.

2. Rinse With Water

Use a garden hose to rinse off the pavers now and then. This washes away dust and loose dirt. For deeper cleaning, use a pressure washer on a low setting. Be careful not to damage the surface or loosen the pavers.

3. Clean Up Spills Quickly

Oil, grease, and other stains can leave marks on your pavers. If you see a spill, clean it up right away. Use dish soap and warm water with a brush to scrub the area. For tough stains, try a paver-safe cleaner from a hardware store.

4. Pull Weeds and Treat Moss

Weeds and moss can grow between the pavers if not removed. Pull weeds by hand or use a weed killer that won’t harm the pavers. Moss can be scrubbed off with a brush and a water-vinegar mix.

5. Refill the Joints With Sand

Over time, rain and cleaning can wash away the sand between the pavers. This sand helps keep them in place. Pour new joint sand into the cracks and sweep it in to keep your driveway solid and even.

6. Seal the Pavers

Sealing helps protect your pavers from stains, water, and fading. It also gives them a nice finish. Apply a paver sealer every 2–3 years, or as recommended. Make sure the surface is clean and dry before sealing.
Taking care of your driveway pavers is easy if you stay on top of it. Regular cleaning and simple upkeep can make your pavers look great for years. With just a little time and effort, your driveway will stay clean, strong, and beautiful all year long.
